"Government Officials Must Report Their Assets" Rally (政府官员必须申报财产）

While the National People's Congress is convening in China, on March 13, 2012, "Coalition for Citizens Rights" held a rally at the United Nations demanding that government officials report their assets and that the National People's Congress make this "Sunshine Act" into law.
在中国正在召开“全国人民代表大会”和“政治协商会议”的两会期间，在2012年3月13日，“公民自由联盟”在联合国广场举行集会，要求中国人大立法，规定政府官员必须申报财产，杜绝腐败。

Over the past 15 years, although numerous people's representatives have put forward this proposal, the "Sunshine Act" failed to become a law. This is because a large number of the people's representatives are government officials, who strongly oppose that their assets be made public.
在过去的15年里，尽管有众多的人大代表提议建立阳光法案，规定官员申报财产，但是这项提案就是不能变成法律。这是因为中国人大代表中有很大一部分是政府官员，他们强烈反对将自己的财产公诸于众。

Public servants, especially high officials, have a duty to report to the public their assets, because they are in a position to be able to trade power they hold for private gains.
政府官员，尤其是政府高官，有责任向社会大众公布他们的财产，因为他们手中握有权力，并有机会将自己的权力用于获取私人利益。

"Coalition for Citizens Rights" strongly demands that the NPC pass the "Sunshine Act" into law, so that the rampant corruption in China can be curbed.
公民自由联盟强烈呼吁中国人大通过让官员申报财产的法律，以抑制中国官场上猖獗的贪污腐败。
