Who We Are

Coalition for Citizens Rights is an human rights organization dedicated to freedom of speech and press, and internet freedom, in China. This organization was founded in May 2008, and its former website, http://www.cfcr2008.org/, has been constantly under attack since its appearance in June 2008. Attackers have compromised this website in 2010 and placed malicious code on it. We warn that this website is not to be opened even if it is back to normal. This website, http://www.gongminziyoulianmeng.blogspot.com/, shall serve as official site of "Coalition for Citizens Rights".

Freedom for Liu Xiaobo and Chen Guangcheng

We call on the Chinese government to release Liu Xiaobo, the 2010 Nobel Laureate for peace prize who was sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2009 for writing "Charter 08", an article calling for rule of law, freedom of speech and constitutional reform; and freedom for Chen Guangcheng, a blind human rights lawyer who served 4 years and 3 months in prison for providing legal assistance to victims of forced abortion and sterilization and has been placed under house arrest since his release from prison in 2011.

Veteran Democracy Activist Hosts CCCR Meeting on "Free Nobel Prize Laureate Liu Xiaobo"

On November 19, 2013, Chen Liqun, a veteran democracy activist, who is also adviser to "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights", hosted a meeting on "Free Nobel Prize Laureate Liu Xiaobo" at the CCCR office in New York, USA.


At the meeting, Ms. Chen briefed on Liu Xiaobo's article, "Charter 08", and his 11-year prison sentence in 2009, and the awarding of the Nobel Prize Prize to him in 2010, to members of "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights". She said that it was Liu Xiaobo's freedom of speech in writing this article, and it was a serious violation of his basic human rights by the Chinese government to put him in jail for 11 years because he wrote this article.


A number of CCCR members attending this meeting also spoke out at the meeting in support of Liu Xiaobo, calling on the Chinese government to have him released from prison immediately.

Dr. Yang Jianli Hosts UN Rally (杨建利博士主持联合国集会)


On Nov 5, 2013, Dr. Yang Jianli, founder and chairman of "Initiatives for China", who is also honorary chairman of "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights", hosted a rally at the United Nations Square urging the United Nations to exclude China from the UN Human Rights Council.







Dr. Yang Jianli points out at the rally that China's human rights records have been getting worse and worse, as evidenced by the imprisonment of Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo; the house arrest of Liu Xia, Liu Xiaobo's wife, since October 2010; and the suppression of ethnic minorities in China, such as the Uyghurs, Tibetans, etc; imprisonment of human rights lawyers; and the crackdown on underground churches. As such, China is not qualified to be a a member of the UN Human Rights Council.


Also speaking at the rally is Ribya Kadeer, the prominent leader of Uyghur minority; a Tibetan student leader from London, England; a close friend of Liu Xiaobo and his wife Liu Xia; and other democracy leaders.

Those attending today's rally include members of China Democracy, Chinese Alliance for Democracy. At the invitation of Dr. Yang Jianli, members of Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights also attended the rally.
