"Free Nobel Laureate Liu Xiaobo" Seminar

On Dec 17, 2013, "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights", a human rights organization, held a seminar in Flushing, New York on "Free Nobel Laureate Liu Xiaobo".

Four years ago, Liu Xiaobo was sentenced to 11 years in prison in China on charges of "inciting to subvert state power" for an article he wrote calling for freedom of speech and constitutional reform. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2010 for his outstanding contribution to China's peaceful transition to a democratic country.

Members of "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights" spoke out at the meeting in commemoration of the 4th anniversary of Liu Xiaobo's imprisonment, and called on the Chinese government to have him released immediately, and return freedom of speech to all Chinese citizens.

Remember 65th Anniversary of "Universal Declaration of Human Rights"

On Dec 3, 2013, "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights", a Chinese human rights organization, held a rally at the Chinese Consulate in New York to remember the 65th anniversary of "Universal Declaration of Human Rights".

Although China is a signatory to the "International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights", the government has failed to protect the freedom of speech and other rights of its citizens, most notably by jailing the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo, who was sentenced to 11 years in prison for an article he wrote, calling for freedom of speech and constitutional reform. Mr. Liu Xiaobo is still serving his prison terms in China.

"Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights" calls on the Chinese government to release all political prisoenrs, remove the blocade of the internet, so that people in China can enjoy freedom of speech.

Veteran Democracy Activist Hosts CCCR Meeting on "Free Nobel Prize Laureate Liu Xiaobo"

On November 19, 2013, Chen Liqun, a veteran democracy activist, who is also adviser to "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights", hosted a meeting on "Free Nobel Prize Laureate Liu Xiaobo" at the CCCR office in New York, USA.

At the meeting, Ms. Chen briefed on Liu Xiaobo's article, "Charter 08", and his 11-year prison sentence in 2009, and the awarding of the Nobel Prize Prize to him in 2010, to members of "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights". She said that it was Liu Xiaobo's freedom of speech in writing this article, and it was a serious violation of his basic human rights by the Chinese government to put him in jail for 11 years because he wrote this article.

A number of CCCR members attending this meeting also spoke out at the meeting in support of Liu Xiaobo, calling on the Chinese government to have him released from prison immediately.

Dr. Yang Jianli Hosts UN Rally (杨建利博士主持联合国集会）

On Nov 5, 2013, Dr. Yang Jianli, founder and chairman of "Initiatives for China", who is also honorary chairman of "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights", hosted a rally at the United Nations Square urging the United Nations to exclude China from the UN Human Rights Council.

Dr. Yang Jianli points out at the rally that China's human rights records have been getting worse and worse, as evidenced by the imprisonment of Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo; the house arrest of Liu Xia, Liu Xiaobo's wife, since October 2010; and the suppression of ethnic minorities in China, such as the Uyghurs, Tibetans, etc; imprisonment of human rights lawyers; and the crackdown on underground churches. As such, China is not qualified to be a a member of the UN Human Rights Council.

Also speaking at the rally is Ribya Kadeer, the prominent leader of Uyghur minority; a Tibetan student leader from London, England; a close friend of Liu Xiaobo and his wife Liu Xia; and other democracy leaders.

Those attending today's rally include members of China Democracy, Chinese Alliance for Democracy. At the invitation of Dr. Yang Jianli, members of Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights also attended the rally.

CCCR Seminar on "Rights Movement in China" (公民自由联盟“公民权利运动学习会”）

On October 22, 2013, Xue Wei, chairman of "Chinese Alliance for Democracy", who is also political adviser to "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights", hosted a seminar at the "Beijing Spring" editorial office on the "Rights Movement in China".

Mr. Xue Wei first briefed members of "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights" on the democracy conference that was just held in Toronto, Canada. He said more than 150 people attended this conference, and more than half of the attendees were foreigners. This shows that more and more people from the international world are getting concerned about the democracy process in China.

Mr. Xue Wei said that right now more and more people in China have got ridden of their fears and have stood up fighting for their own rights, as witnessed by citizens in Beijing and other cities in China who publicly called for reporting of government officials private assets, and people who petitioned to the government for their lost land and private houses torn down by the government.

Mr. Xue Wei encouraged members of "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights" to pay more attention to the ongoing rights movement in China, and do everything they can to help those petitioners, and to fight for freedom of speech in China.

3rd Anniversary of Nobel Peace Prize for Liu Xiaobo (刘晓波获诺贝尔和平奖三周年）

On October 8, 2013, "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights" held a rally at the Chinese Consulate in New York in commemoration of the 3rd anniversary of Liu Xiaobo being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Dr. Liu Xiaobo, a writer in Beijing, China, was sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2009 for writing an article calling for rule of law, freedom of speech, and constitutional reform in China. He was awarded the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize announced by the Nobel Committee in Norway on October 8, 2010 for his outstanding contribution to China's peaceful transition to a democratic country.

Right now, Dr. Liu Xiaobo is still serving his prison terms in Jinzhou Prison, Liaoning Province, China.

On September 17, 2013, "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights", a human rights organization, held a rally across from the Chinese Consulate in New York calling for the release of Nobel laureate Liu Xiaobo.

Dr. Liu Xiaobo was sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2009 for writing an article calling for constitutional reform, and freedom of speech, in China. He was awarded the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize for his outstanding contribution for China's peaceful transition to a democratic country.
刘晓波博士因为写了一篇文章，号召宪政改革，言论自由，结果在２００９年被判处１１年有期徒刑。２０１０年，他被授予诺贝尔和平奖，以表彰他为中国的民主转型而做出的杰出贡献。

On September 15, 2013, at the invitation of Xue Wei, chairman of "Chinese Alliance for Democracy", "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights" attended a rally at the Chinese Consulate in New York demanding the release of Dr. Wang Bingzhang, the veteran Chinese democracy activist.
２０１３年９月１５日，　在“中国民主团结联盟”主席薛伟的邀请下，中国公民自由联盟参加了在纽约中国领事馆前举行的“释放王炳章”集会，要求中国政府释放著名的民运人士王炳章博士。

Dr. Wang Bingzhang is one of the first group of students sent overseas by the Chinese government to study. He graduated from a prominent medical school in Canada with a doctor's degree in medicine. However, he gave up his medical career and dedicated his full life to the cause of democracy and human rights in China.
王炳章博士是中国政府最早送到国外留学的留学生之一。他从加拿大的一所著名的医科大学毕业，拿到医学博士学位。可是，　他放弃了他的医生生涯，将他的全部精力都投入到中国的民主和自由事业中。

Dr. Wang Bingzhang was the founder of "Chinese Alliance for Democracy", the first overseas democracy organization founded in 1983. This organization is targeted by the Chinese government as the No.1 overseas hostile force. In the late 80's, its members totaled more than 10,000.
王炳章博士是“中国民主团结联盟”的创始人。这个中国海外最早的民运组织是１９８３年成立的。这个组织被中国政府视为海外头号敌对势力。在８０年代后期，这个组织曾有１００００多名成员。

In 2002, Dr. Wang was abducted back to China from Vietnam by government agents and in 2003, he was sentenced to life in prison. As of today, Dr. Wang is still serving his prison sentence in Shaoguan, Guangdong Province, China.
２００２年，　王炳章博士被中国政府派遣的特工从越南绑架回中国，在２００３年被判处无期徒刑。直到今天，　王炳章博士依然在中国广东省的韶关监狱服刑。

上海「法官集體嫖娼」事件後，因「敵對勢力」言論引起譁然的上海高等法院代院長崔亞東，被之前工作過的貴州省公安廳70名下屬，實名舉報16項貪腐，包括對建商重大利益輸送、建成面積達1442平方公尺空中別墅、每年偷拿6噸茅台酒等，約相當於3萬4000瓶，「觸目驚心」。

五名上海法官接受企業招待嫖妓，被實名舉報，視訊被公布在中國民眾眼前，五名法官分別受到懲處。上海市委書記韓正召開會議公開譴責。

4月才上任的上海高等法院書記、代院長崔亞東則表示，這一事件發生在此期間，「給境內外敵對勢力攻擊黨和政府、攻擊社會主義司法制度、攻擊上海黨政幹部隊伍提供了可乘之機」。

崔此話一出，引起網友憤怒，網友諷刺：「只差沒把嫖妓是敵對勢力策畫的說出口了！」 王興、陳光武等20多名律師在網上寫「致上海市人大代表公開信」，要求對崔亞東的高等法院長一職，不提名不投票。公開信說，崔亞東不具備擔任上海市高級法院院長的政治、業務和品行條件。

崔亞東曾在貴州任職時的70名部屬近日更聯名舉報，指他以改建員工宿舍為由圖利地產商，並私吞其中一棟樓的三層，打通為每層1442平方公尺的豪宅。同時指他在貴州偷拿茅台酒達3萬4000瓶之多。

現年58歲的崔亞東是河北省蠡縣人，曾任安徽省合肥市公安局長，2006年調往貴州省，擔任省政法委書記、公安廳廳長等職，今年4月空降上海市高級人民法院代理院長。舉報信羅列崔擔任公安廳廳長期間涉及的16項「惡行」，舉報員工附上簽名、蓋手印，以示慎重。

舉報信指，崔亞東把建造警察宿舍的工程，交給「睿力上城房地產開發公司」承包，從中圖利。他把建好的宿舍轉售牟利，並侵占景觀最好的29至31樓共九戶，其中每層三戶，他把每層打通為豪宅，而這些宿舍一般警察根本申請不到。

舉報信還透露，貴州省公安廳每年約1984萬元人民幣的公關費，都被崔拿去招待親友，五年花掉近9800萬元人民幣。此外，公安廳每年採購茅台酒10餘噸，崔偷拿走其中的六噸。舉報信還指崔亞東跋扈，「動不動拍桌子、摔文件、砸手機」，公安廳「聞崔色變」，敢怒不敢言。

On July 16, 2013, "Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights", a human rights organization, held a rally at Chinese Consulate in New York calling on the Chinese government to release Liu Xiaobo, the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize winner, who was sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2009 for writing an article calling for freedom and human rights in China.
２０１３年７月１６日，中国人权组织“中国公民自由联盟”在纽约中领馆集会，要求中国国政府释放２０１０年诺贝尔和平奖获得者刘晓波。刘晓波是因为写了一篇文章，要求实现民主自由，结果在２００９年被判处１１年有期徒刑。

The article that Liu Xiaobo wrote is named "Charter 08", a manifesto on China's constitutional democracy, freedom of speech, and human rights. It was published on the internet on December 9, 2008, one day before Liu Xiaobo's detention.
刘晓波写的这篇文章名为“零八宪章”，号召在中共实现宪政民主，言论自由，尊重人权。这篇文章在２００８年１２月９日在互联网上发表，在这前一天，刘晓波被拘留。

On December 25, 2009, Liu Xiaobo was sentenced to 11 years in prison by a court in Beijing, China on charges of "inciting to subvert state power". The evidence to support the charges was this article.
2009年１２月２５日，刘晓波被北京的一个法院以“煽动颠覆国家政权罪”判处１１年有期徒刑，证据就是他写的这篇文章。

"Chinese Coalition for Citizens Rights" holds that Liu Xiaobo is not guilty of the charges, because what he did was only exercising his rights rights to freedom of speech, which is provided for by the Chinese Constitution. It calls on the Chinese government to have him released immediately.
"中国公民自由联盟”认为，刘晓波没有罪，因为他写了这篇文章，只是在行使他的言论自由的权利，而这个权利是中国的宪法提供给每个公民所享有的权利。中国公民自由联盟号召中国政府立即释放刘晓波。
