"Free Nobel Laureate Liu Xiaobo" Rally 要求释放刘晓波集会

On July 31, 2012, "Coalition for Citizens Rights" held a rally at the United Nations Square calling for the release of Liu Xiaobo, the 2010 Nobel laureate for peace prize.
2012年7月31日，公民自由联盟在联合国广场集会，要求释放2010年诺贝尔和平奖获得者刘晓波。

Dr. Liu Xiaobo was detained by the Chinese government on Dec 9, 2008 for writing an article named "Charter 08", calling for rule of law, constitutional reform, freedom of speech and government be elected by the people. On December 25, 2009, on the Christmas Day, Dr. Liu Xiaobo, a Christian, was sentenced by the Chinese government to 11 years in prison for the article he wrote.

刘晓波博士在2008年12月9日，因为撰写《零八宪章》被中国政府拘捕，他在《零八宪章》中，倡导法治、宪法改革、言论自由、政府民选。2009年12月25日圣诞节，基督教徒刘晓波博士因其文章被中国政府判处11年有期徒刑。

On December 10, 2010, Dr. Liu Xiaobo was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize of the year for his outstanding contribution over the past 20 years to China's peaceful transition to a democracy. However, he was not able to attend the awarding ceremony in Oslo, Norway on that day because he was still serving his prison terms in China.
2010年12月10日，刘晓波博士被授予诺贝尔和平奖，以表彰其在过去20年里为中国和平民主转型所作出的杰出贡献。然后，由于他仍在中国狱中服刑而无法参加当天在挪威奥斯陆举行的颁奖礼。

Right now Dr. Liu Xiaobo is still in Chinese prison.
目前，刘晓波博士仍在中国狱中服役。

"Coalition for Citizens Rights" calls on the Chinese government to respect freedom of speech and release Liu Xiaobo from prison immediately.
公民自由联盟要求中国政府尊重言论自由，立即释放刘晓波。

Zhang Jialin, a petitioner from Jiangsu, China, also a member of Coalition for Citizens Rights, spoke at the rally about the horrible perseuction he suffered in China after he became a victim of labor fraud. Zhang was beaten repeatedly by security guards and thugs hired by the government and was detained because he kept petitioning to the government asking for his money back. He said that there was no place in China where he could seek justice, and that is the reason he joined "Coalition for Citizens Rights" to fight for his rights.
曾是中国江苏上访者的张加林作为公民自由联盟的成员，在集会中讲述了他在中国遭受的残酷迫害，作为用工欺诈的受害者，他被保安及政府雇佣的地痞多次殴打，还因为他拒绝停止上访，坚持讨要自己的财产而被政府拘留。他说，在中国他找不到一个寻求正义的地方，这也是他加入公民自由联盟，争取自身权利的原因。
Yin Hushan, a member of "Coalition for Citizens Rights", also spoke at the rally praising Dr. Liu Xiaobo's contribution to China's democracy during the 1989 student movement, and his role in the "Charter 08" movement. He urges Chinese government to free Dr. Liu Xiaobo immediately and unconditionally.
 公民自由联盟成员尹虎山，也在集会上赞扬了刘晓波博士自1989年后为中国民主所做出的贡献，以及他在《零八宪章》运动中所扮演的重要角色。他同样要求中国政府无条件立即释放刘晓波。

杜炳余:一场大雨过后的真相

2012年7月21日北京暴雨，前说30年难见，后说60年未遇。死亡人数，前说10人不测，后说37人遇难。 我认为实际的死亡人数永远要超过些数字。北京排水系统老旧、预警机制空转、灾后反映迟缓、公民意识淡薄，北京和世界的差距还是“老天”说了算。
  衡量一座城市或者一个国家是否如他们所说的那样光鲜亮丽，不是看来这座城市有多少高楼大厦，有多少星级的饭店，一年可以消费多少奢侈品，鸡的屁又增长了多少，而是这座城市有多少设施是真正造福老百姓的，有多少的财政支出是为了给百姓改善民生，保障公民的生命和财产安全的。光鲜亮丽的城市为了给某人领导做政迹，是给政府长面子，同时上马一项工程又有多少银子落入和珅们的腰包。

"Stop Blocking Overseas Websites" Rally 停止封锁海外网站

On July 17, 2012, "Coalition for Citizens Rights" held a rally at the Chinese Consulate General in New York calling on the Chinese government to stop blocking overseas websites, remove the Great Firewall, so that people in China can have access to a free internet.
2012年7月17日，公民自由联盟在中国驻纽约总领事馆外集会，要求中国政府停止封锁海外网站，撤除长城防火墙，这样中国境内人民才能自由上网。

The Great Firewall in China came into existance more than 10 years ago, and it blocks almost all overseas websites that the Chinese government deems "sensitive", namely, pro-democracy and human rights websites. Because of the Great Firewall, people in China are blocked from accessing Facebook, Youtube, Flickr, Wikipedia, etc.
中国长城防火墙10年前已经存在，它将一切中国政府认为名称“敏感”的网站封锁掉，比如说民主和人权网站。长城防火墙的存在使中国境内的人无法登陆Facebook，Youtube，Flickr，或是Wikipedia等网站。

In early July, 2012, the Chinese government blocked bloomberg.com, a financial news website, because it reported that one of the state leaders has close relatives that owned 200 million US dollars in assets in China as well as overseas.
2012年7月初，中国政府封锁了美国财经新闻网站Bloomberg.com，因为此网站披露了中国一位国家领导人的近亲们在中国境内和海外拥有2亿美金的财产。

Coalition for Citizens Rights calls on the Chinese government to give people freedom of speech and access to a free internet, so that people have the chance to voice their concerns and grievances, and those corrupt officials will more likely be exposed to the public.
公民自由联盟要求中国政府给予人民言论自由和网络自由，这样人民才有机会表达出他们的关注和不满，同时，腐败的官员才会有更多机会被曝光。

God Bless America: Observe the Independence Day 天佑美国：庆祝美国独立日

On July 3, 2012, Coalition for Citziens Rights held a rally at the United Nation Square in observance of the Independence day.
2012年7月3日，为庆祝独立日到来，公民自由联盟在联合国广场举行了集会。

 
Two hundred thirty six years ago, founding fathers of the United States stated in the "Declarion of Independece" that men are born equal and people have the rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. People from all over the world have been coming to this country to pursue their dreams of living a happy life.  During a short time in histroy, less than three hundred years, America has risen from a colony to be the strongest country in the world.
自两百三十六年前美国建国以来，美国的建立者们在独立宣言中称人人生而平等。人民有权利去追求自由和幸福的生活。人们从世界各地来到这里追求幸福的生活。在不到300年的时间里，美国成为世界上最强大的国家。

Chairman Cao hosted the rally and gave a speech. "One of the reasons for America to become the strongest country in such a short time is that government here respects their people's rights", He said. "we celebrate Independece day here in America because we concur with the statement in the Declartion of Indepedence, that governtment should protect people's human rights, such as Life, Liberty and the persuit of Happiness. We came to the United States because our rights to life, liberty, and happiness have been deprived of by the Chinese government; We came to the United States because we want to live a free life, a life free of fear."

公民自由联盟主席曹先生主持了此次集会并发表了讲话。他说美国能够在如此短的时间里成为最强大的国家，其中一个原因是美国政府尊重人民的权利。我们之所以在美国庆祝独立日，是因为我们同意独立宣言的观点：政府理应保护人民的权利，比如生命，自由和追求幸福的权利。我们来到美国是因为我们的上述权利被中国政府剥夺了；我们来到美国是因为我们梦想过上自由的生活，没有恐惧的生活。
