"Stop Persecuting Chen Guangcheng and Ai Weiwei" Rally

On November 8, 2011, "Coalition for Citizens Rights" held a rally across from the Chinese Consulate General New York, USA, in protest of continued persecution of Chen Guangcheng, a blind human rights lawyer in Linyi, Shandong Province, China; and Ai Weiwei, a dissident artist.
“公民权利联盟”在2011年11月8日在美国纽约中国总领事馆 ，抗议继续迫害一位山东省临沂的盲人的人权律师陈光诚，和一个不认同政见者的艺术家艾未未。

Chen Guangcheng was sentenced to 4 years and 3 months in prison in 2006 for providing legal assistance to victims of forced abortion and sterilization in Shandong Province. He was beaten and tortured before and after his arrest. After his release from prison in 2009, he was placed under house arrest by the police in Linyi, Shandong Province. He was not allowed to use a cell phone, access the internet, and have communications of any sort with his supporters in China and overseas. His daughter, who was already of school age, was not allowed to go to school.
陈光诚因在山东省为强迫堕胎和绝育受害者者提供法律援助于2006年被判处有期徒刑4年零3个月的监禁 。在遭到殴打和折磨之后，他被逮捕。在2009年出狱后，他被山东省临沂市的警察软禁。他不能使用手机接入互联网，不能与在中国和海外他的支持者中有任何形式的通信。已经上学的年龄的他的女儿也不准去上学。

In March of 2011, Mr. Chen released a video on the internet through the help of his friends, revealing the horrible experience under house arrest. Mr. Chen and his wife were subsequently beaten badly and tortured by the police in Shandong Province.

Thanks to the internet, Chen's name is known by more and more people in China. More and more people are now coming over to Shandong Province trying to visit him, to give him support. However, they were beaten, arrested, and cell phones and cameras robbed by police and thugs hired by the local government.
Ai Weiwei is a world known artist who designed the bird's nest of the Beijing Olympic Games. He refused to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in 2008 in protest of the human rights violations of the Chinese government. He was involved in the investigation of the school students killed by the shoddy school buildings during the China earthquake in 2008, and in the melamine milk scandal that impacted millions of babies in China. He was arrested in China this spring and was held in secret detention, until his release in July 2011 under pressure from international human rights groups and governments. This month, he was levied a fine of 15 million RMB (about 2.2 million US dollars) for "tax evasion". After the news was out, his supporters all over the country donated more than 5 million RMB in three days to support him and in defiance of the Chinese government.
因由互联网，在中国越来越多的人知道陈光诚。现在越来越多的人来到山东省，试图来探望他，给他支持。然而他们遭到当地政府聘请的警察和暴徒暴打，逮捕抢劫的手机和相机。

"Coalition for Citizens Rights" call on the Chinese government to immediately remove the house arrest for Chen Guangcheng, give him complete freedom, allow his little daughter to go to school, and stop continued persecution of Ai Weiwei.
“公民权利联盟”呼吁中国政府立即删除对陈光诚的软禁，给他完全的自由，让他的小女儿去学校，并停止继续迫害艾未未。
