On April 3, 2012, "Coalition for Citizens Rights" held a forum on "Free Liu Xiaobo" in Flushing, New York, calling on the Chinese government to release Dr. Liu Xiaobo, the 2010 Nobel laureate for peace prize.
2012年4月3日，公民自由联盟在纽约法拉盛举行了释放刘晓波研讨会，要求中国政府释放2010诺贝尔和平奖获得者刘晓波博士。
Dr. Liu Xiaobo was sentenced to 11 years in prison on December 25, 2009 on charges of "inciting to subvert state power" for writing an article named "Charter 08", calling for rule of law, constitutional reform, respect for human rights, and that government be elected by people. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on December 10, 2010 for his outstanding contribution to China's transition to a democracy over the past 20 plus years. However, Dr. Liu Xiaobo was not able to attend the awarding ceremony in Norway on December 10, 2010 because he was serving his prison terms in China.
刘晓波于2009年12月25日以“蓄意颠覆国家政权”罪被判处11年监禁，原因是他发表了《08宪章》，倡导法制，宪法改革，尊重人权，政府民选。他因为过去20年里为中国向民主转型所做出的贡献，于2010年12月10日被授予诺贝尔和平奖。但是因为他在中国服刑，所以未能于2010年12月10日参加在挪威举行的颁奖礼。
